Goals for a New Year, Why Goals Matter.

Think about it, at the start of a new year people ask what your new years resolutions are… but how often do we actually follow through and complete them?

At the end of the day, as the quote says:

A goal without a plan is just a wish.

And really if we want to grow either in ourselves or our businesses we need to have a plan for how we’ll achieve the goals we have set.

Now, I’m not great at planning – the idea of it simply doesn’t appeal – but I know if I take the time to write the idea down and create a plan (no matter how simple), then I have more chances of achieving it. And I’m sure that you are no different. Taking that goal and writing down the steps we need to take to get there – that is a plan. One we can follow and track, and if you can tick things of the list as you go that is motivating and also helps get you closer to those goals.

I believe its because by sharing your goals – and how you plan to get there with others – you don’t want to be seen to fail by not getting there. So, you’ll take the steps, no matter how small, as each little step forward gets you closer to that goal and saves face with the people you told about it.
