Authentic Design

‘Attempts at originality can often feel forced and precious but authenticity has quiet resonance that never fails to stir.’

Elizabeth Gilbert in ‘Big Magic’

What is authenticity in design?

Authentic design is being honest about the story you want to tell. It’s ensuring the design and imagery you share are an accurate depiction of the brand you’re designing for.

It’s the real-life version of the brand, not their ‘insta-perfect’ social face.

If your brand is presenting as perfect then everything about it needs to follow through; from imagery to customer contact; the whole sales process from beginning to end. Every touch-point the customer has with your business needs to give that perfect service.

And being authentic is NOT about being perfect, it is about being honest.

Presenting your brand as it is: not what you think it should be. The more authentic you are with your branding the better your business will be.

Brene Brown said it best with these words:

Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.

Never sell your authenticity for someone else’s approval.

Are you being authentic with your brand?

  • Is your branding telling the right story?
  • Does it show your business’s personality to your customers?
  • Are your visuals authentic to you?

If not, then maybe you need to have a think about how to make your branding and design elements more authentic and share the real business so it can grow in the right way.

I can help, we can chat about your brand and how it can be more you, book in a design chat with me and we can work together to make your brand more authentic.
