Have you ever thought about what goes on inside a creative person’s brain?

‘The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.’

Elder Uchtdorf

creativity - the desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul by Elder Uchtdorf

Being a creative is scary, each time you put something out there there’s a piece of your soul in the work. And that’s hard – as even when its design for a client – you soul is still in it. And the response to the design, artwork, book, poem, song etc is intricately linked to you perceive yourself. Even though it shouldn’t be, as everyone responds to art differently, it’s still there.

But you can’t avoid being creative if it’s in you. As if you’re not creating in some way you lose a piece of your identity, and that is why we do it. Being creative is an innate need and if it’s not being fulfilled, we all start going a little bit loopy.

‘Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world.’

Brene Brown

‘I would be empty without a canvas, paint, a brush and pencil. They are like the ingredients of my soul.’

Lexi Landsman in ‘The Ties that Bind’

It’s why we persist, we may create for ourselves or we may create for others but at the end of the day we still create, taking one big leap of faith.

‘At the root of all great art there lays a giant leap of faith, often many such leaps.’

Traci Harding in ‘The Storyteller’s Muse’
